want to drop half of the pages

Hello,

Here is a thing, my site has about 10.000 pages, and half of those pages are going to be dropped out my site. How would that affect google? I'm afraid google won't be satisfied :D

The first question I would ask is if those 5,000 pages are bringing you traffic. If they are, why are you getting rid of them?

If they are old/outdated pages, you can always consider redirecting to targeted areas of the site.

actually, those 5000 dont bring any traffic, but are indexed by google.

Our site is much smaller, about 500 pages. We dropped about half of them at some point due to duplicate content issues. That did not see to affect our ranking with Google. As a matter of fact, it seems to have removed many of our pages from the supplemental index.
