Hi,

Has anyone experience with 1-word keywords in exact and broad and phrase in the same adgroup? Is it wise to do?

I've tested it for 2 weeks now, and the 3 variations of the keyword al get impressions. (I've incorporated variations into the test: plurals and misspellings). When the broad one gets an impression, would that be due to the "extended broad match?"

I tried to get some clarification from Google, but as usual, I got the copy/paste answer that started an e-mailthread in my inbox and resulted in a still unsatisfying answer.

Hi Beatever

There's no particular harm in having the same keyword with different match types duplicated in the same ad group. Personally I think its quite a good practice to make sure you get the optimum CTR on your desired keyword, whilst not missing out and some on the search tail keywords which you may have not included that the broad match keyword picks up for you.

When the broad match keywords gets impressions that's from standard broad match as well as extended broad match.

Cheers

Hi Wilko,

My question raised because Adwords Editor 3.0 is issuing a warning when you have different match types in the same ad group. I assumed that this could cause harm...

Yeah it does do that, but this is just a precautionary measure to prevent people making mistakes. So long as they are tracked separately you'll have no problem!
