My new site www.canaldevideos.com grew a little too fast and I had to migrate the site into a dedicated server. When I switched from one to the other, I noticed that google stopped sending me traffic and I do not appear on their results anymore. I looked into my webmaster tools and it shows:

"403 (Forbidden)"

Is there anything I have to tell the googlebot so it knows that I just migrated servers?

Please help, I hate to lose my google traffic.

Thanks,

Pokerboyz

I think I found the reason why Googlebot stopped visiting when I moved from one server to another. I think it is important that everyone knows in case that it happens to you.

The new server I got was with Godaddy.com. These guys gave me Plesk to work with. I do not know if it is Plesk or Godaddy.com that gave me the default on my server of:

<Limit GET HEAD POST>
order allow,deny
deny from 66.249
allow from all
</LIMIT>

As you all know, the Googlebot is 66.249...................

Thank you Godaddy.com for costing me 6 days of misssssssery.

You know, there was once an issue with GoDaddy banning Googlebot from crawling all the sites they hosted a few years backi.

I would suggest reporting this via Google's Webmaster Central or at their Googlegroups Webmaster Help so that the Google crawl team is made aware of it. You need to also raise your voice to GoDaddy about it.

Personally, I want no part of any host that does something like that BY DEFAULT. The average webmaster wouldn't have a clue.

Thats really harsh, thanks for sharing that info. I would have to agree with Marcia and avoid a host that would do that.

On another note, I read somewhere on the internet that google are looking at godaddys database to get domain info. Prob just speculation though. Marcia, any thoughts?
