Alternatives??

Are there any decent alternatives to Adsense? I can find ones that put random ads on but not ones that put relevant ads on?

There are a bunch of alternatives, but the Yahoo Publisher Network and MSN's Adcenter contextual products may be the most "trustworthy." This is not to say that LookSmart and others don't have decent products.

The "trouble" most folks encounter when using one of the systems other than Google is, in some niche cases, there may not be that many advertisers in the system targeting that niche you're in - this can lead to off-topic ads being shown to fill the space.

Certainly Yahoo and MSN should have enough folks now to negate most of this worry, but I hear it still happens from time to time.

I also have heard from a gal who's had some great success with some of her clients on Looksmart. the volume of advertisers isn't as much, but the revenue numbers are working for her client.

Sometimes those outside the big three can offer just the niche advertiser that works on your site, too - smaller companies that cannot afford the cpc rates at Google Adwords, for example.
