This is the first time I have seen DMOZ be called "SEO friendly" :DThat funny....esp given that the only people that complain about DMOZ are those involved in SEO

Do you guys suggest re-submitting a site now? I just submitted it a couple of weeks ago, after having submitted it more than six months prior to that. Thanks in advance.

Have a great day!

Why would you suggest a site twice in such a short time?
Time between suggestion and review can vary between a few days and a few years.
Ofcourse if you want to become known as a spammer you should suggest as much as posisble. :D

Well, I wasn't suggesting spamming or anything like that. Also, I wouldn't submit a URL twice in such a short time normally. I think it's ok to re-submit after six or seven months though. I was asking because I wasn't sure if the backlog of submissions was wiped clean and you needed to resubmit again, or should I wait a while again because they will get my most recent submission.

> I think it's ok to re-submit after six or seven months though.
DMOZ does not think it is OK.
Either your previous suggestion is still waiting review, no need to suggest it again.
Or the site is rejected, no need to suggest it again.
So in all cases there is no need to suggest a site ever again, unless you completely changed the subject and content of the site.

> I was asking because I wasn't sure if the backlog of submissions was wiped clean and you needed to resubmit again,
When the editor function became available end december there were still suggestions in the pool. We know that a certain amount of previous suggested sites was not made available to the editors at that time but have been told that this is part of the still ongoing recovery. You already wrote " just submitted it a couple of weeks ago" , so even if your site was part of the not yet recovered part of the pool it is now in the pool.

> or should I wait a while again because they will get my most recent submission.
We will always get your most recent suggestion. And that is excatly the problem for you. Older suggestion of the same site in the same category are removed each time you suggest again. There are some editors that review sites based on date of suggestion. You just managed to put yourself at the end of their line of to be reviewed sites. Ofcourse there are also a lot of editors that don't look at the date of suggestion at all.

I submitted about 10 years ago,
then 9
then 8
then 7
then 6
then 5
then 4
then 3 years ago

Honestly, does anyone use a directory anymore? DMOZ, would you waste 1 second getting a listing on... DMOZ?

My submission finally got listed..........after 10 months.
However they redefined my catagory, and I am placed on a page with a PR of 0

Does the PR from the referal page really count on DMOZ, or will the SE's reward the link because it is from DMOZ?

I would appreaciate feedback

Perhaps you should read another users post before your quick to criticise!

Where are you getting these figures from anyway? Point me in the right direction so I can verify your claim

this was a post from a current editor for DMOZ redflymarketing.com/blog/dmoz-submission-guide (http://www.redflymarketing.com/blog/dmoz-submission-guide/)

How long does a DMOZ listing take? DMOZ does NOT have as many editors as stated on the front page. “over 4 million sites - 74,719 editors - over 590,000 categories”. It has a LOT less. This number is the amount of editors since the beginning. Most of these are no longer editing, or edit once in a blue moon. If your category has no editor, this will be indicated by a “Volunteer to edit this category” link at the bottom of the category page. If your category has no editor, it will take a VERY long time for a Meta editor to get around to it. Think about either submitting your site to another relevant category or becoming an editor. See Tips below. Dave Davis

There is no doubt than many SEO's and or webmasters may sumbit to obscure cat's.

Was I crazy for stating submission could take a long time, ummmmm as Ryan posted, above, citing the previous SEO's post......the process can be painful. Not in all cases but in many......... The sumbission time can take a very long while, see source and bolded text.

In recent months, DMOZ has had some very severe server issues and lost a lot of data. The submission process is now open again. Most of the data lost in the crash was data relating to previously submitted and queued sites. One of the bigger problems with DMOZ previously was the size of the queue for waiting sites Dave Davis

I wonder if a long que meant long psuhed back submission approvals
