Hey guys,
I've got a client who has a storefront selling a product. The homepage is using the extension .bok (www.domainname.com/StoreFront.bok). They have another older domain which doesn't use this extension and shows Google PageRank. I'm not familiar with the .bok extension. For some reason, Google PageRank does not show on this page, also, the Google backlinks do not show. However, in one time out of fifteen searches I was able to pull up Google backlinks showing they do have a good number of links pointing back to their website. When you search on the domain in Google it shows many pages indexed in the database.
Could this be a situation where some sort of rewrite is in order?
PS: The website is over four months old.
TIA for any info you can pass along.

Well, some of the pages listed here (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=books+filetype%3Abok&btnG=Google+Search) are also PR0 but some are not.
Looks like more to do with the amount of varibles in the file paths to me than any problem with a .bok ext....
AFAIK G doenst have trouble with different extentions, it just treats them all the same and tries to read them as html
No hard facts, but i hope that helps a little...

The major engines don't have any problems with specific extensions. Here are a few examples of indexed (the cache version) of pages indexed in Google with rare extensions:
.nls

.enc

.ic

I haven't recently checked but I am ready to bet $100 that I can get a file indexed with a .mikkel extension - if only my webserver is set up to actually spit out something when requested :)

Winzip used to be able to handle it. Not sure if it still does, but worth a shot.
