My personal opinion is not to link to them. You only want to have links on your website to relevant content of good quality. Most directories asking for backlinks that I have found do not offer any link value to your submission. Why waste your time?

For High PR directories, it worth the time.

My directories ask for them on the basis that "if you don't ask you don't get".
However I don't link back to directories from the sites I submit. One way only.
Should I be inspired to provide a link it would be from an internal page and not from my homepage - as many require.

Is this high PR guaranteed ? One has to check the exact page on which the URL will be listed.

I suggest you If directories are high PR then there is no problem if you provide link back to them. But it is better if you got one way link only from free directories here is some directories list where from you can get one way links. List are not updated after this update sorry for that. But I know you will get good directories from this list.
