View Full Version : Yahoo Panama 20 Campaign Limit

I just attended a Yahoo webinar ahead of upgrading my account tomorrow. In the webinar, they say that each account has a 20 campaign limit. If you have more campaigns than that before your upgrade, they will bring them all in, but you can never add any more than that.

20 Campaigns seems very low. There are no exceptions to the limit; once you hit it, their only advice is to open another account.

Was anyone else aware of this? I read through all of their upgrade material and only heard this in the webinar today.

Is there a limit to the number of ad groups they can have inside a campaign?

I'm not sure. The only other limit I am aware of is 1000 keywords per adgroup.

I actually did a post on this last week on my little blog

http://searchenginetigers.com/2007/01/how-many-campaigns-to-ppc-account.html

Yahoo will jump you up above 20 if, and only if, the account is a platinum level account, which means that you have an annual spend of $120,000 (or they'll let you get away with a 3 month spend of $30,000). It's not great, but at least we still get 20 campaigns to an account now, rather than 1 per.

I'm not sure about an Ad Group limitation.

Oh, and I do like the fact that we now have the ability to do dynamic keyword insertion on Yahoo (http://searchenginetigers.com/2007/01/yahoo-panama-supports-dynamic-keyword.html) :) (ok, I blogged about that today). ;)

Thanks for the information. I was told by a Yahoo CS Rep that Platinum status is reached at $80,000. Obviously 20 campaigns is better than one. But won't many businesses reach the 20 campaign limit pretty quickly?

For Platinum that sounds like a year???

But Alessandra - is the siren of Platinum and am sure will make sure things are working for you!

If each campaign is a customer... you better be more than breaking even on any deal...

Hmm, interesting, maybe they don't have their story straight ;)

We would be happy to assist you with your question. In order to receive
more than 20 campaigns in a single account you must be a Platinum
advertiser. Platinum advertisers spend 120,000 annually on their advertising
with us. All of your accounts were either New or Premier accounts and
still would have only qualified for 20 campaigns. We would like to make
you aware that you receive 20 campaigns per account, so if you are
managing 8 main accounts that will allow you 160 campaigns total.

Every quarter we do evaluate accounts to see if they qualify to move up
in tier status. To be considered as a Platinum account, 10,000 a month
for three consecutive months are required.

If there are any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

I know I have done, quite a few times over...

You wonder what the motivation is for limiting campaigns?

I don't know what their motivation is, or what it could be. I asked several different people and was repeatedly denied any kind of answer. The only thing I can think of (that makes any sense) is that it is some kind of technical limitation.

It seems to be that limiting an account to 20 campaigns really discourages growth. I don't want to be managing multiple accounts through one search engine.

The only thing I could come up with was that they want to get as many of the $5 account activation fees as possible ;). As for it being a technical limitation, if they can do it for the platinum accounts, they can do it for everyone. Also I've noticed that there isn't a way to delete a campaign (at least not that I've found), so if you close one out, all you can do is turn it off, and it still counts towards the 20 limitation.
