Happy New Year guys!
Can anyone help or offer any advice??
I'm new to this so be gentle :o
We've just started a new website and we're looking for any tiny bit of help we can get. Does Google AdSense help your website in anyway? If so can someone offer an insight in to it for me, please?
Thanks
Stephanie

AdSense helps you make money from the site's traffic. It does nothing for organic and any other placement... you need to get the traffic for adsense to give you anything... ie. money.

Ahh I see... that clears things up a bit
Do you have any suggestions on what we could do to boost traffic?
Let me know your opinion of the site too.... if you don't mind:

We're open to any criticisms or even praise :)

Load your title tags with three keyword phrases appropriate to the page's content... you do not need to have your site name up there... if they are at the site they know who you are.

How is commision computed with Google Adsense? Any tips?
It's based on the publisher receiving a portion of the fees paid by an advertiser participating in the Google Adwords program.
Google does not share the details, and, honestly, no one really knows what the percentages are.
If someone claims to know what the percentages are, it's either Larry or Sergey or the person is fibbing... ;)

AdSense pay rate to publishers is a little below 50% of what they make... but the eCPC or eCPM is what you are paid

Just curious Aussie - not refuting your info - how do you come to the 50%-ish mark?
Is there info released to that effect? (Could be there was and I'm out of date on that info. :( )

No worries rank :)
1 - adsense and adwords are two individual programs. Adsense is used by publishers of websites to generate revenue. Adwords is used by advertisers to gain exposure or generate sales.
2 - if I understand your question correctly - basically is the bid amount in Adwords the same as the CPC payment rate in Adsense - the answer is no, they are no the same value.
If I've misunderstood the question, fire away and I'll try again.

what sort of money to people make from adsense (if you dont mind me asking!) I have just put it on my site and it doesn't seem to make much? Is it something that just builds up over time?

Thanks Aussie - I appreciate the candor. :)
Privlet - yep, it takes time to build. As traffic grows, so do ad impressions, which leads to more chances of generating revenue.
The best advice I can offer with Adsense is the following:
Read through the Google Adsense guidelines and follow the rules - carefully
See the heatmap (https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=17954) for ideas on how best to place your ads
Test carefully - see which color combos work best, then leave them alone until the numbers dictate a change is in order
Make sure you do not actively encourage visitors to click on the ads (like offering them an incentive to click an ad), do not click them yourself, and do not have your friends click them
Now, G doesn't like Publishers to share their numbers, but I can say this from personal experience. One of my sites is running about 200,000 page views a month right now, I'm seeing an average CTR around 6% and my monthly cheque usually has a comma in the number. ;)
Your results will vary - lots of folks make significantly more than I do, and there i s along list of things that can affect your results.
In the end, stick with it and as traffic grows, enjoy the results. :)

I would also read everything in the AdSense thread and then jump over and read everything at the JenSense blog.... that will bring you a wealth of info and ideas to try.
