I was looking for a button for the Google Toolbar that links to Google's government search webpage, but there was no such button, so I created one. Three months later, Google finally added my button, but I only found it when I searched for "government" with the button search (http://www.google.com/tools/toolbar/buttons/gallery?hl=en) tool. It seems it belongs in one of the categories listed on the left of that page, particularly the Google (http://www.google.com/tools/toolbar/buttons/gallery?keyword=Google&hl=en) category. Any idea why it's not categorized or why Google didn't create a government search button on its own? I tried asking in the Google custom buttons newsgroup (http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Custom-Buttons?lnk=li), but my posts aren't showing up. I figured I'd post here before emailing Google.

I also wanted to suggest that the website hosting the button be credited on the button page. I might have named myself with my website name if I knew only my name would be shown. My button file is the most visited file on my website.

I discovered that USASearch.gov (http://usasearch.gov/) is "the U.S. government's official web portal." I wonder if that has something to do with Google not wanting to publicize its own government search by putting my button in a more proper place. USASearch.gov is powered by MSN Search. I wonder if the "official web portal" isn't as good as Google's.
