I have several websites willing to give me full news articles for my site but im concerned that having the same news article on my site aswell as on theirs ( source ) and anyone else they syndicate with.. will place me in bad standing with google.

yet we see many websites using other peoples full news articles, so does anyone know how this can effect your site? is it good, bad?

The biggest issue you should be concerned about is duplicate content. If the search engines find duplicate content then they ignore it, possibly penalize for it, and remove if from their index.

The search engines compare one web page to another web page when determining what is duplicate content and what is not duplicate content. So, if you had a page about "widgets" then you would want to make sure that that page (as a whole) isn't a duplicate of any other web page out there. That means that you would want to add content or take away content if you're repurposing content. In other words, if you have a page about "widgets" it would make more sense to have content about widgets from two or three sources rather than one source.
