If I'm the only bidder on a keyword, will Overture let me have it? I'm a bit new to this....
thanks in advance

yes they do. One tactic is to bid high on it so if someone else comes into the market they might be less tempted to outbid you. Your cost will only be 10 cents even if you bid a dollar. Also, remember you have to spend a minimum of $20 a month...do you have other keywords to target as well? use the keyword research tool to help you decide.
good luck on your foray into PPC marketing!

keep in mind that soon the exact match ads will no longer list above the broad match ads and the search volume Overture provides is a bit shady (automated tools and rank checking and whatnot can inflate the search volumes a good amount).

Overture has been getting better of late... though they have this tendency to alphbetize terms if you bulk submit and it gets a bit weird reading the results that way... euro currency is currency euro etc. when they are 3-4 word terms you need to think a minute to work out which term it was.

Yes, Overture will let you have a keyword if you're the only bidder. However, if they determine that the keyword doenn't get enough searches per month (i.e. 0 to 20) then they will deny it, supposedly as a way of preventing their system from overloading.

seobook,
When did the Overture policy change re: broad match listing above exact match. Did this happen with the latest release?

I hate to be wrong, but I think that was early October...when the panel was down for the whole weekend.
