Hi,
I have been submitting my site to 4 or 5 directories a week for about 2 months now to increase my back links.
I came across a service which submit sites to some 350 directories manually at a cost of 80 $ , very attractif i must say but I am really wondering is this really a manual submission at this price and is this something I could consider. There is a list of directories given, they vary from small with small PR to large directories with 8/9 PR.
All submission are generally done together which is not a problem in terms of Google penalities I was told as the site will only be added at different times by the directories any way.
Any thought on that?
Many thanks

There's nothing wrong in submitting to directories, but avoid cheap services that offer thousands of submissions for cheap.
In case you want a good human service submission to directories contact me. Our prices are reasonable and we even allow you to send us your directory list to do the job:

There probably aren't even 10 general directories worth submitting to, let alone 350, but as you point out, the price is very cheap. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for.
At this price, a service has got to template the whole submission process. They can't really thoughtfully submit, craft individual titles and subscriptions, and look for niche directories with categories and traffic that might really help you. They can't take the time to check the backlinks to these directories that give them the PR... and chances are that some of the directories might be a part of their own networks.
As for the PR you cite, that's not a very good measure. Skipping over a lot of other factors, it's home-page PR... not a measure of category-page PR, or of PR likely to be transmitted to your page.
Many of these services are run by offshore "SEO" companies... and I've seen sites that have used them have their inbound links appearing on dozens of identical "directory" pages obviously belonging to the same owner, or listed in free-for-all and obviously unedited directories. The links definitely did not help the sites.
Will these links hurt you? Many feel that the engines will ignore the links rather than penalize you for them, as otherwise competitors could hurt you. My feeling is these probably do raise some flags, though, and definitely don't help your quality profile. It's most likely a bad way to start off marketing your site.

I can tell that $8 to submit hundreds of directories is an unreal price. And I can tell that always being listed is good, because 1) you can get extra traffic and 2) even low pr directories may raise it's own pr.
BTW I personally know MANY directories beyond those top 10 that pass value to websites linked.
About my offer, prices are not that cheap and is there even packages where YOU send your own directories to make those submissions.
But if you want to pay less than USD 10 to get listed in 1000 directories you can't expect much...

Hi their
Recently i tried manual directory submission service provided by submitedge.com.
I purchased 300 directory submission service. I tell you they did a pretty good job in getting me some backlinks.
The directories to which they submitted were in between Pr 6 to Pr 2 that to for 25$.
As well as a featured listing in a pr 3 directory as a bonus.
Great Service provided I think.
They did the job in 7 days time.

Ahh... natural link growth in no time at all. I'll bet with unique titles and descriptions to well-edited directories with discriminating acceptance policies, not interlinked, and not connected to any SEO company networks. ;)

I think the problem is that Google and ther other search engines could regard some of the 350 directories as being link farms or not of any particular value, which could harm your sites ranking.
You should not need to submit to any search engines, you will need to get some quality websites with content related to yours to link to you, and the main search engines will pick you up and should give you a good ranking if they linke the sites that have linked to you.
Hope this helps?
