Was wondering how hard it is?
Have managed accounts for almost a year now...its not exactly rocket science, but i'm thinking there must be some booby traps in the exam!
Cheers

I took the test about a month ago and it wasn't too difficult.
There were a lot of questions on topics that I don't deal with -- e.g., the billing structure and processes, which our accounting dept. handles and international/foreign language campaigns, which we rarely run -- but there was nothing on the test that isn't covered by the tutorials and study guides on the adwords help pages. It's a good idea to review all of the material there, and take all the topic quizzes, before taking the test.
It's a lot like taking the SAT's - don't spend too much time thinking, just answer all the questions you know, then go back later and figure out the ones you don't.
Good luck.

I did the GAP exam back in December 2004, as did another of my staff - so we had 2 qualified GAPS by Feb 2005 http://www.cogentis.com.au/qualified-google-adwords-professionals.html
Back then - the fact that I'd been managing Adwords & Overture campaigns since 2002 didn't count - you still had to do the 3 month 'probation'...
Two more of our staff did the GAP exam in the last 4 weeks (and still have to do the probation - as their names weren't registered earlier) - and both achieved very high marks (one has been managing Adwords campaigns for clients for nearly 2 years). I think its just about knowing & understanding the Adwords system - there are something like 110 questions (multiple choice) that you have to answer in 90 minutes. So if you don't know the answer - you probably don't have time to go & look it up...
My advice robfenn? - work through the tutorials at http://www.google.com/adwords/learningcenter/ and when you can remove the stone from the teacher's hand, you will be ready grasshopper... :)

it's not difficult really. one of my staff did it after doing just the minimum requirements and passed with ease.
As said before, go through the learning centre and do the tests to see how up to speed you are. I thought one of the more difficult parts of the exam was working out what some of the questions were actually asking, so make sure you read the questions properly.
we have 3 now so have become a qualified company.

I haven't taken the GAP exam as I don't really have the need to.
Some of my ex colleagues kept breaking the score records for GAP and said that the trick to success is to think about how Google would like you to run campaigns, even if it's not the most effective or efficient way in reality.

Yeah it is not overly hard - I did it without any study etc.... just took the test and got a 90 something.

Only problems I had with it were with my broadband. if you have a reasonable understanding of Adwords, you shouldnt struggle with the exam

I think you need an 85 or above to pass.

What's the point of becoming such a google professional..? Does/Should it help getting a job in the industry or has it another purpose?
(Im asking because i started learning about SEO 2 months ago...and should go back to college where I study business/marketing in 10 months...however, the thought of having to go back there and learning 80% stuff that I simply wont need in Internet Marketing and just 20% that I'll be able to put to use annoys me sort of....;-()

If you become a GAP people in the industry at least know you have a strong knowledge of Google and how adwords work.... I would pick someone with that skill set when hiring it saves teaching it.

Not only could it help you get a job in the industry, if you want to start your own sem company, it would give potential clients a bit more confidence in your abilities.
If i were a client and had two people pitching to take on my PPC stuff and they both sounded as good as eachother when they came in, but only one had the GAP, i'd choose them over the one without due to this.
