HELLO,

I apologize if I have posted in the wrong place. I tried to find the most relevant section.

I am writing an article and need to find some stats about user patterns on the internet. Specifically I need to find out how many people use search engines ( percentages ) to find products and services on the Internet. I'd imagine this number is very high but I seriously doubt it is 100%.

If someone knows a site with this data please reply to this post or email me directly at monster_outlet@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance.

This is not a direct response to your question but a useful figure nonetheless:

According to a new report issued by Hitwise, an online measurement company, visits to the top three Web search engines -- Google, Yahoo! and MSN, which virtually dominate their sector -- account for 5.5% of all Internet visits by US surfers. Hitwise calls the category "search engines and directories."

Yeah, that is good information. I'll include that stat as well. I really need to know when someone sits down at their computer and thinks: "I wonder where I should go to get my ....." what percentage of those people go to a search engine.

Here's some slightly dated figures on How US Consumers Find a Website they Use to Research a Purchase (http://www.emarketer.com//images/chart_gifs/047001-048000/047730.gif). I hope that helps.
