Can anybody tell me main difference b/w directories & websites & one more qestion is what is the maximum range in FTP
Hi naveensoft
A website is e.g.:
- www . somedomain . com
A directory/subfolder is a folder that resides below the root of a website e.g.
- www . somedomain . com/subfolder1
- www . somedomain . com/subfolder1/subfolder2
Beware, do not use subfolders to devide content on your website unless you have a lot of pages, the reason is that search engines give content in a directory/subfolder less priority compared to content that resides in the root of a website. In addition the deeper you make your directory/subfolder structure the less priority the content will get, i.e.
- www . somedomain . com/page.html will get a higher priority than
- www . somedomain . com/subfolder1/page1.html and
- www . somedomain . com/subfolder1/page1.html will get a higher priority than
- www . somedomain . com/subfolder1/subfolder2/page1-2.html
What do you mean by maximum range in FTP?

Hi naveensoft
The limit of a file transfer using FTP will be determined by:
- the bandwidth of your internet connection
- the bandwidth of your destination FTP server
- the space available on the harddisk on your destination FTP server
If your setup is not stable and e.g. your internet conneciton sometimes goes offline, then your file transfer using FTP will suffer, however you do not have to restart your file transfer once you get online again if you use FTP software that supports 'resume' of a file transfer that is not completed.
P.S:
I did not see that your post was located in a section acout 'Open Directory Project'. Thus I am not sure if I answered your question correctly? Were you
asking about directories alias subfolders - or - directories alias a directory like 'Open Directory Project'?
