doh!

You beat me to it Danny!!

On BBC Radio Two a question was asked about what search phrase brought back the highest search results, the person asking the question said something about searching for 'a', bringing back obviously millions of results.

I emailed in with this link about stop words (http://www.ranks.nl/tools/stopwords.html) and also some other useful Google links.

While listening later to the Radio show the answer was given, she mentioned about stop words and I thought 'yes, she got my email'...but sadly not... Mr Sullivan had beaten me to it!! ;)

Never mind better luck next time and well done Danny!

Cheers BBB

BBC Radio 2 'Fox The Fox' on the Chris Evans Radio Show, you can listen again at the Radio 2 web site.

Classic marketing trick, getting your website mentioned on an advertising-free broadcaster - "And now we're taking a call from Bill who works at thetopsearchguru.com".

;)

I actually missed the answer and what was said on the radio (in a Spin class at the gym), but my wife heard it.
She thought I was going to get the mention when they started talking about the stop words (she knows what an SEO Geek I am) and I told her briefly about my email into the studio. She was miffed when my name wasnt mentioned but she said a Danny somebody was....I said oh that's cool he's 'The Man' when it comes to SEO, I was / am just pleased that my thinking matched that of Danny's

Anyway its 00:14 here in the UK and I gotta sleeeep...

That's funny -- I missed hearing it live.

What happened was around 5:15pm yesterday, I got a call from Radio 2. I'm in the BBC's contact database for people who know about search engines. They'd had someone ask her this question, so she called to see what the answer was. I said "a" was a pretty good shot for most popular word on Google, at least for English language pages. Told her about Googlewhacking, as well -- that come up? I'll have to listen to the recorded version.
