Hi guys

Do you have any SEO tips for optimising a website without needing ftp access (for onsite coding work and link directory for example). I know inbound link building helps as does monthly search engine and directory submissions..........any other 'off site' techniques gratefully received

Many thanks
Andy

You could work in a consulting capacity, and send recommendations for the site developer to implement on the site.

They have someone working on their onsite optimisation already - I want to support that with off-site work if you have any ideas

Thanks! :)

You could set up a blog for them in which you write about whatever their web site sells or is about.

You could participate in online discussions about that subject, find out who the big players are in their field and try to get some editorial links from them.

Other than that, I think it's best for you to coordinate your activities with the onpage seo they are already employing.

All of the good ideas above and for my 2p's worth I would add

Viral campaigns with relevant content sites
Press release campaigns
Paid inclusion
Buy a lot of smaller players sites and SEO them

Hope it helps - best of luck.

Thanks guys, that is great. Bit unsure what the above means though

Sorry. I meant if you have a lot of smaller sites in your marketplace - it may be worth you buying one with FTP access and performing SEO on the smaller site to drive traffic to the orginal site.

Hope this makes sense.
