Now that Google has their agreement in place with Myspace and is serving ads, is there an added SEO benefit to having a myspace profile?

I really doubt there will be. That partnership would be strictly on the basis of how much traffic they would send to their advertisers.

As far as link juice, I would say no for Google and Yahoo and yes for MSN. Further details on my own experiment can be found here (http://www.searchrank.com/blog/2006/08/myspace-link-juice.html).

Of course maybe with multiple profiles, anchor text in links may have more weight but I doubt it.

How about the benefits of not only having a profile but of using your keyword links in comments to other users (i.e. Using myspace for what it is meant for and simply including in your keyword links)?

At least from my experiments, Google does not seem to show backlinks from myspace, but perhaps that will change with this new update. I wonder if it would matter whether it was in users "about me" sections, in the profile comments versus in the blog or blog comments. It is also possible that Google will start to give more weight to Myspace links as they will more thoroughly index the site to provide site search and ads.

I have not checked, but I wonder if on the myspace profile there is a no follow tag in the meta for each page. I also wonder about any robat.txt file that prevents indexing links. This might be a good idea from Myspace's perspective to avoid the urge to link spam.

I do not see no follow tags.

As to a robot.txt to help prevent link spam, that would be like thowing the baby out with the bath water. On any social site (myspace, forums, blogs with comments, discussion boards, etc.) there are good and bad link. If anything, myspace probably has a better chance at filtering out any link spam than most social sites because everyone is a moderator of their own page/myspace and can remove obvious spam links.

I have noticed myspace pages showing up in the search results on several occasions. I noticed they keyword was in the form of a link and placed in the about me file.

Can you give an example of a google query that brought up a myspace profile?
