Hi i currently have three sites two beeing ebook sites and one beeing a real estate site. Im really a novice at all this but i have purchased webceo and seo elite but from what i have been reading on these forums it would suggest that software is a complete waste of time. Im not getting that many visitors to my sites and wonder whether it is all worth it.
I dont have that much time on my hands and doing all this manually is out of the question, is there any software that is worth using and is safe so i can get more visitors to my sites, i have exchanged links with a few other sites that are simulair to my sites but this hasn't done much.
Is link exchange software that swaps links completly dead?
Because of the content of my sites the only things that change are the products or services so im not able to upload new rich content pages to give me higher rankings and even if i could im not html friendly so i would struggle.

Kind Regards
C.Vinall

In short, there's no way to automate SEO.

Have you got listed at Yahoo directory? it still has some impact... also try botw.org - an older and cheaper directory that is well liked by the search engines... working various directories (there is a thread here about them free and pay) is still worthwhile.... a few recips are okay... even one or two outbound links to serious high end sites in your niche can help...

Its true that there is no automated SEO, but many of the linkexchange offers do have dead links, better you try out creating sitemap, blogs and forums for the site. I suppose these would help you a lot.

There is no short cut to good SEO, and most of the "schemes" out there are of no help.

When I hear you say, "I can't write because I don't know HTML", all I hear is, I am too lazy - tell me the secret formula so I can get rich quick.

You have to be realistic about time spent on SEO versus rewards that you expect to receive. There is no magic formula, there is no secret sauce, and anymore it is getting harder and harder to cheat your way to the top of the search engines - even for low competition keywords I might add.

Your best bet is to focus on consistantly writing quality content for your niche and seeking out quality links. As far as writing goes, don't make excuses - get a blog (no HTML required) and write a blog article each day. Put "MY TOWN HERE real estate" as the title of your blogs web pages. If you write quality content every day, not only will people want to link to you, but google will too.

As far as link building goes. Go to google and search for 'Top Web Directories - Rated by ILQ'. Make sure that your real estate blog is linked to by 5 of the top 10 directories listed there - and then forget about link building. This will build trust for your site, getting you out of the sandbox right away.

I am telling you, focus on writing quality on-topic content for real-estate consumers in your town and you will not go wrong. Or just be lazy, keep searching for that magic formula, and in two years come back still with nothing to show for yourself.

Thanks for letting me rant

While I am a huge supporter of directory listings... I think to suggest someone gets 5 links and they are done is way too simplistic and wrong. And if you think solid content will get people linking to you in any type of quick manner is also naive. How do people find you? How do you float up to the top so they know where you are.
Five links is not going to get you anywhere in a competitive niche.

Hear me out. Generally, yes I would agree with you, but for vinny2006 I think it is the way to go.

I don't believe I mentioned the word 'Quick' anywhere. In fact I think I referenced where he would be in two years....

If you are a legitimate Realtor, hopefully the web is only a piece of your marketing mix. What I suggested to vinny2006 will help him leverage his time and still accomplish what he wants.

Five links is not going to get you anywhere in a competitive niche.

Granted. But it will get him on his way and depending on the city he lives in could very well get him in the top ten for the keyword "HIS CITY real estate". SEO is all about time management in my opinion and what vinny2006 needs to take into consideration is where his time is most valuable - out selling real estate, or inside reading message boards, sending reciprical link exchanges and other SEO related activities.

If I'm totally off track here please let me know.

Okay in that case he should basically look for a CPA deal for his area... there are people out there offering them.

Try Exchangeplace.com - the Acoona search people rolled this out a few months ago and others are there... grab spots in Yellowpages.com and superpages.com be a real big local search advertiser....

This way you are out selling and leave the online stuff to others.
