I use Alexa.com to check the rankings of a website. (http://www.alexa.com/#traffic)

Are there any other tools where I can check a website ranking.

(Reason being Alexa says something about their toolbar being installed in browser and that’s how they track a website ranking. Doesn’t sound too authoritative since not many people install the Alexa toolbar.)

None of those tell you anything about your site that you can use.

You'd be far better off using a code checker to make sure you have no fatal HTML errors, and a program like LinkSleuth to make sure all your internal navigation is fully spiderable. Use Google for the site:domain.com searches to make sure that all your pages are properly indexed, that you don't have duplicate meta description tags, and that you do not have multiple URLs for the same piece of content.

Hey all

I would have to say that www.alexa.com is what you should use. This is the site that google and other search engines use to identify site ranking and popularity, isnt it?

You should also note that Alexa's data sample is limited to mainly people with the Alexa/Amazon toolbar installed, or a Firefox extension that shows the Alexa and Page Rank of a site. A large percentage of this user base are either webmasters keeping an eye on their Alexa rank or IT geeks. That's why so many SEM websites have such high Alexa rankings. You can see this by checking the Alexa rank of SEW or Sitepoint, which receive smaller traffic numbers compared to some major Health & Beauty and Wedding websites for example.

Hello,

My choice for checking the ranking of a website is *URL Removed* because it will ask Google API key and tell the ranking of the website. So i think it is the best ranking tool....

Usually i check the ranking for the websites *URL Removed*

*URL Removed*

If you check or analyze a single website without using Google API key then there is chance for banning the weebsite. But i am in the safer side of using Google API key for analyzing the website.
