Is there an SEO benefit to travel venues who are discussed in Yahoo's Trip Planner? There is obviously a benefit to the community and if a place is mentioned enough a buzz will be created, but what about general searches for restaurants in Aruba? If one restaurant keeps poping up on trip planner for those who are going to Aruba will that start to populate in the Yahoo results?

Wow over 100+ views and no one has an opinion as to the SEO benefit of trip planner. I missed most of the session at SES, but I assume there must be one, or they would not be talking about it there.

RCM - I was at that session in San Jose, and have to confess that Trip Planner was a completely new service to me. I was more interested in learning what it is and does than figuring out the SEO benefits of it. :)

I do recall the Trip Planner speaker explaining that it can be beneficial to travel-related businesses, but I don't recall any details.

My gut feeling is that the Yahoo SERPs will gradually include more and more of their own content properties - like the recent announcement of Flickr photos appearing in the main SERPs.

And I don't know if any of this is helpful in the least! Sorry. :)

pleeker,

Thanks for the response. I think I may have only caught the end of the session, but I believe the point the speaker was making is that you can buy key words as a sponsor, so for example, if I was the Aruba Marriott Hotel, I could buy the key word Aruba Resorts and my banner would come up for all of the searches on that phrase or exact match.

I think Trip Planner will work like Yahoo Answers too, where if the querry is strucured just right, the main serp will display it. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
