I work for a small ASP model software company that serves a specific vertical. We have been growing mostly by word of mouth, but now we are looking to promote our web site and start getting more leads from the site.
I mentioned to our VP of sales that I had some SEO experience (mostly natural for personal sites) and now am in charge of SEO/SEM for our site, which is great :) , but I'm not entireley knowledgable in the ROI, generating leads side of SEO/SEM.
Anyways we are looking for a way to get origin information (ie natural or paid result, what keywords, referrrer etc..) into salesforce so we can see on a micro basis, where our best quality leads are coming from.
I've thought of possibly setting a cookie when someone comes to our site that tracks their origin and then when they go to one of our 3 "contact us type" pages, the server writes that information in a hidden form that posts to salesforce with the rest of the contact form. I would just create new fields in salesforce.
Does anyone know if this would work, any considerations I should take in this, or know of any better/other ways we could get what we are looking for.
Also we use Google Analytics(for right now) in case someone knows of a way to pass the info they gather into salesforce.
Any help, ideas, suggestions, resources is greatly appreicated.
