Is it good to have RSS promotion of your site help needed/....

I m newbie to this area I have created RSS feed for my site...so is it good if i use this for RSS promotion of my site...

I guess it ll increase the traffick but wht shld b its bad areas like everyday One ping for tht page from the sites where I submit my page...is it worth ?

ll I only get the Ghost traffick only..?

Please help me out...
