Marcela DeVivo is due to give birth to her first child, a son named Nathan Dorje Andrew, any day.

Many of you may know Marcela from WebmasterWorld.com, where she used to moderate the Yahoo Search Forum under the nick of 2_Much. She has also written for SearchEngineWatch.com ('http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=3525086')but has mostly dropped out of the spotlight to run her own SEO business: Ambicultural.com where she specializes in SEO for the Hispanic market.

What should be the happiest day of her life, may turn out to be one of the most tragic. Her son, Nathan Dorje Andrew, has been diagnosed with severe brain damage, and doctors said he may not survive.

The doctors say this is a rare event — something that happens only in 1 out of every 200,000 pregnancies.

Marcela is currently facing many medical bills due to all of this, and there will probably be many more. I’ve opened a PayPal account in her name to collect donations for her to help with these expenses.

That was something she sent out a few days ago but the following is just a reminder from me: those of you that DONT have paypal... checks, money orders, gifts, cards, flowers, prayers, etc. are ALWAYS appropriate, and can help enormously during tough times. Medical bills are an insult to injury, so those of you that have benefitted from communities such as these, might consider this an opportunity to pay it forward by helping a person that helped give this industry a touch of class and compassion.

It was a great idea to set up a fund for her, but it will only work if you all stop what you are doing and make use of it. Every little bit adds up. If you saw her a pubcon you would buy her a pint without thinking about it, so even if you dont know her, belly up to the bar and send a few bills her way. They have enough on their mind to worry about besides bills. Anyone who had the ability and balls to quit the day job to go it alone knows that you dont get a paycheck when you are are concentrating on your personal life.
