View Full Version : Google CheckOut = Blatant Discrimination?

Our friend Joe, in the US pays for an Adword ad, uses CheckOut and gets a "badge" highlighting the ad and enjoys free payment processing.
We, from the rest of the world, pays the same cold hard US cash to have an ad, but sorry no highlights for you, in fact nothing, not even a thank you, even though non-US ads constitute 38-42% of Google's business (so I have heard).
I know, it's another whine that CheckOut is not available to us, but the least Google could do is NOT DISCRIMINATE. Do I smell a class action suit?

I sure don't. Until recently I had no idea Sheetz had french fries. I stumbled upon them out of town, and they were delicious. My local Sheetz doesn't have them on the menu. Poor me.

Ah Hah! If you put a "badge" on it that says "100% Genuine American" fries, maybe u'll get some. :) Poor us, to have to resort to this.
The same post could not even get posted on Google's CheckOut Group. So much for free speech.

Give it more time and I would think that the service will become available to the rest of the world. I can't be upset in the circumstance about the french fries on the menu elsewhere and not my home town. Like most commercials or ads indicate "prices and participation may vary".

I could not agree more psurplus, but you know, these days time is compressed and it's called internet time. I know I sound like a kid and it's just a gripe, but looking at PayPal it could be years before I egt to have a "badge". Meanwhile, my money is going to competitors who has a badge, at least indirectly through Google.
My challenge is for Yahoo or Microsoft to some up with something that will compete with Google and offer a viable option. Those US dollars dumped onto "Zune" could be much better used.

Microsoft tried to do this years ago with a passport account. it never really caught on (whether or not people trusted microsoft to know their banking info?). Yahoo will never come out with a system like this. I take it you must be in the UK or somewhere. Be patient, for good things come to those who wait (hehe had to get that in there). Paypal is currently very strong and surely dominates, however Google Checkout will begin to grow over time. For the past week since we got checkout, we've averaged 3 google checkouts a day. Hold in there, checkout I imagine will soon come to the rest of the world and Paypal will fear because Google will process transactions for free.
