Hi,
I am Webmaster of some financial websites. I have a Question regarding GEO Targeting.
I have already applied GEO Factors but it is not meaningful as i expecting. My Site is UK Based and I have taregeted UK GEO area. I have done off optimization in UK only. My sites is on no #1 Ranking in Google.co.in on some keywords but in Google.co.uk it is on 4th-5th page. Why?
Can anyone suggest me regarding this. My site is UK based and it is also physically Hosted in UK.
Thanks,
I have the same problem -- clients in Canada who want top ranking for with the location in the targeted keyword phrase.
I have seen sites go from first page to 100th page moving the site to a US server, moving them back they recover. Perhaps some factors in the ranking mix are weak? Other sites 'appear' to jump up 5 or 6 positions when moved to a Canadian Server, for keyword phrases with Canadian locations. (i.e. best resturant victoria bc)
My experience is the boost from country domain extensions and location of the servers is definately a factor but it has to be in combination with the location names appearing on pages sitewide.

Are you using a .co.uk domain name for your main domain?
Is the IP address of your server actually registered in the UK?
Are most of your inbound links UK orrientated or based?
Do you have local-identifying content such as a UK address on the content page?
