In the other thread we were talking about the new Gmessanger (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=1236), and Barry (RustyBrick) who is one of our moderators asked this very important question, "How has and how will Google deliver its brand to the public?". There is a lot of chit-chat about it, but I have not seen a good thread discussion so far.
Now with all that money and power, what do you think will Google become?

It seems pretty clear that Google is intent on becoming a portal of sorts. Mind you they will probably take grate pains to avoid that label or anything that will give google.com the portal appearance, but they are certainly going far outside the bounds of search.

Here is a good analysis, where "USA TODAY's Jefferson Graham compares Google and Yahoo's most popular features":

Searching, E-mail, Local ads & searches, Photos, Finance, Shopping, Personal Pages and Toolbar.

Will Google try to grab it all under one single location . . . maybe, the you know what . . . a browser?
