Hey Everyone,
My company is about to go through a rebranding process. Right now, we have pretty good Google Ranking. Any tips or advice on keeping this up through our name (and url) change?
I'm new to the forums, so if there's a thread that addresses this already, feel free to point me that way!
Thanks much,
Susan :)

We did the same thing where I work about 18 months ago. We ended up keeping the old site exactly as is, and starting a new site completly from scratch.
The old site is today still very powerful (though it is ugly), bringing in a good number of leads each day. The new website is much better looking, far easier to navigate, and gets a higher conversion rate.
Now 18 months later, the new site has overtaken the old site on most search terms, and is also generating numerous leads. Both sites (as well as several other sites we have since built) occupy the top couple of spots for many of the terms we go after on the search engines, meaning that if you search for our products in google, you will get both sites as the top couple of results.
You never know when former customers are going to try and track you down.

Thanks for your input. Do you find that some people get confused when they go to the old site, though?

They get really confused, but it is a very bad site. Because it is under a different name, the usually don't connect it to our company though, until we already have a good relationship with them.
