I know there are a lot of other conferances and tradeshows than just SES, granted that is the largest one.

What other ones do you know about?

The Direct Marketing Association's main conferences (like net.marketing and the Annual Catalog Conference) has a big search marketing emphasis. :)

I would be interested in knowing how many of us *pay* to go these, which ones, and how often (one a year, two a year, etc.).

I specifically want to know those who pay to differentiate from those who get a free ride.

Free ride?!?!?! How can I get one of those??? Please don't tell me it's a "It's not who you know, but who you b--w" thing...

I go to 12 - 14 a year. Most are either discounted or free or depending whether you go to the entire conference or just the exhibits, but if you factor in the cost of flights, hotel, dinners etc. it can still be pretty costly.

Seems a bit anemic in the noframes department, doesn't it? Can't trust those fleelance french coders to get the seo right,eh NFFC?

Anybody here attend pubcon1? If you did, you have an automatic invite to seoroadshow.

Holy Smokes, I can't imagine even having that kind of time! But certainly, with the conf fees, travel fees, meal fees, They can be one expensive trip. I'd love to go to one a year, but it just ain't happening.

Please don't tell me it's a "It's not who you know, but who you b--w" thing...

no comment.

Here is another one although I have not gone to this one so I can't vouch for its worthiness:

http://www.emarketingassociation.com/events/2004/index.htm

And I just got the press release today for the Webmasters in the Sun Conference (http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2004/8/emw152255.htm) in Malaga, Spain next month.

Oh and rcjordan, I attended BarCon 1 in Irvine (now referred to as PubCon 2)...does that count?

Heck I would think that three professionals from this field sitting in a Denny's off of Route 66 constitutes a "conference", but only it they payed $85 at the door. Yes. PubCon 2 definitely counts. ;)

But here is a new one (ChurchCon I (http://gonzo.ipupdater.com/misc/sew/churchcon-one.jpg)) to add to the list.

By the time the year is out, I'll have attended four for this year. If I didn't have small kids, it would have been seven. ;)

Mr Miller, it passes for humour in these parts, its just a joke. I'm still giggling about it myself :)

I hear GoogleGuy said it is the funniest thing he has ever seen, apart from askjeeves of course.

The joke is on me - I actually sent them an email asking what the deal was, lol. Hope that makes you laff a lil harder ;) They never did reply.

Here is another pretty concise listing of events. I subscrible to this list as well by email to get a current listing of conferences updated weekly.

Mediapost (http://www.mediapost.com/evt_main.cfm)

It also has a calendar feature that allows you to update your calendar with future events so you wont miss them. :)

FYI, there was so much discussion on the upcoming SEO Roadshow in London that we've split the posts into their own threads here: Going To SEO Roadshow In London Sept 18? (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=1430)
