Hello All..

I have a question for all the affiliate experts in the house.

I am trying to help a company out in trying to find new potential affiliates to join their program. We are trying to seek out other markets webmasters who might be interested in joining our affiliate program.

Is there any other way to search out new potential affiliates/webmasters other then just search Google and Yahoo?

Thanks

Critter

my guess is that if you know how to / what to search for in Google & Yahoo! you would likely also know what words may be appropriate to target and run ads in them?

getting listed in some of the top affiliate directories
(I think this is one of them http://www.associateprograms.com/)
and asking questions in their forums could likely help a good bit.

Exactly. If you want the 5% that will do the real selling, conferences are the best bet. Either that, or an old core AM like Mr. Mackin.

<added>
Actually, not the conferences per se, they generally suck, check out the hotel bars around the conferences.

Well, yes for now..... until you investigate the amount of webmaster conferences that are available. You will be able to narrow it down to what pertains to you, after you weed out whats not pertaining to your business model

Cheers

In simple words - Getting Affiliates is Selling Them the Idea that You can make them earn a good profit by associating with you.

And as far as finding them is concerned - You will have to use same strategies as you are promoting a product [ I will outline some in details as soon as i get some time to give an exhaustive reply ]

Short term look to the affiliate programs - obviously some are a bit on the expensive side ie: LinkShare, ValueClick... but you could look to advertise with the major webmaster publications - AdSpyre does a push weekly - and there are others out there.
If you are not going to work the forums which is a solid way to go - then you will have to spend some money advertising.
I also like the working of the bars at the conferences - but you need solid sales people and a solid presentation of your product.
In case you were not aware - 5% of affiliates get you 90% of sales. The 'superaffiliate' is what every marketing program longs for and they are out there. Look for the publication "Revenue" it is a good affiliate industry mag.
