Hi,

I am looking to build links into a website which is in very competitive market in the UK. I would like feedback on whether in the long term the yahoo! link is worth buying from the US?

I have submitted to the UK directory but I would like feedback whether I should pursue the paid option? Would both IBL links from Yahoo! offer good quality referrals in the eyes of G?

"worth it" is the operative phrase here.

Is it a good link? Yes. Is it worth $299? Many SEO's feel that the answer is no for most sites.

The average paid directory of good quality costs around $40. Many of us have a difficult time justifying 1 link for $299 when we could get 7 with other directories and still have money left over.

If you have tons of money and need every edge you can in a highly competitive market, then sure - it's one of the costs of doing business. But it should not be automatic - think about the value to you.

You may want to look at the MSN Small Business Directory - a much better deal for $99.

As for different links in Yahoo counting as different links (and therefore individually valuable) - so far the answer seems to be yes, they all seem count differently and are valued independently, simply due to the small number of possible links and the size and diversity of the directory.

Thanks Ian, yes I agree with your points you raised.

Due to the size of this project then budget is not an issue when it comes to buying links, I am like you say looking at every possibility to get in with the competition.

Good pointer on the MSN local...I will check it out. :)
