View Full Version : Yahoo Cache Problems

I received several sites to work on which have issues with Yahoo! search.
It seems like only the homepage is indexed.
Those sites are online for about a year now with quality (not duplicated) content,
They do not have any outbound links so do not participate in link exchanges,
Although they have quite a few inbound links. and yahoo's crawler comes in daily.
From past experience it is obvious to me that asking for yahoo!'s staff to check
what seems to be the problem is a waste of time. (If some insider is reading,
please proove me wrong).
Cached version of the index page seems fine.. All seems to be valid.
What else can be wrong? Is there any known indexing problem?

I am also noticing this same trend where only the index page will be indexed...

Index page only indexed at Yahoo generally indicates a serious penalty.

Generally it does. I agree.
But I cant find any reason for those sites to be penalized.

So, time has moved on and I have some new situations to deal with..
I received more websites from clients that have only the domain name indexed at Yahoo! search.
Some do link exchange, others do not. Some have tons of content, others have less. I can not find anything bad about those sites...
Another issue I recently had with a couple of the sites I'm working on is that
when I use the site: command, the domain is not the first result and it is not
because those pages get more backlink "value", since in some sites only the
index page gets links and in others only few links for inner pages.
Any one knows what can cause those problems?

Hi - how do you find out how many pages you have indexed please?
I would like to know the same question for Yahoo, Google and MSN please?
Thanks!

How about the situation where while just the homepage is listed with cache and description, other pages are being indexed but only listed with URL, and dead links to deleted pages still remaining in the Yahoo index a year later?
I appealed to Yahoo for removal of this penalty many times, but I get either no reply, or the standard reply about robots.txt, or "It has been determined your site may not comply with our content guidelines..."
There's much speculation about possible causes for yahoo penalties and bans. Many claim having just a few affiliate links or reciprocal links pages can do it.
