background: I am doing a little work for a medium sized agency in Australia SEOing their client sites. Not my usual gig, but I welcome the change!

Client: We want to rank for our name in Google. (site has no links whatsoever)
me: Ok we can link to you and get the robots crawling your site, but we will need to add a heading to your homepage to tell them what it is about (splash page)
Client: We cannot change the content on the home page unless it is invisible
me: No comment

I have done all sorts of 'screenreader' hidden text in my time, but this one just needs a clear cut h1 on the homepage. Burrr, clients - hate them, looks like more accessability excuses coming Google's way (not my fault I am only the SEO Dude...)

Why, why, why o lord dammit, must clients be;
a. So picky (dude it's html - can you spell mark-up?)
b. So stupid (dude, it will actually help you users, if I can't tell what your site is about in 2 seconds, how will your clientele??)

p.s. It's not exactly my client so I can't tell them where to get off ;-) But I would like to none-the-less.....
