Sorry if this is the wrong forum, Im not sure where to post but this. I am building a site that will consist mainly of photographs, hundreds of them and I have little or no text to go with these pictures. So, essentially I will finish up with hundreds of pages with near identical content. I'm not worried about these pages ranking, obviously, but could this number of apparently dupe content pages hurt 1) the site overall, and 2) the half dozen text rich pages that introduce the different sections. Thank you.

If each site has a unique title and header they will probably be ok
once I got greedy on a photo site and made all the exlarge pics have a page , instead of linking right to the photo, the page had the same title, header as the medium photo page and shorly after all the pages for the medium and large photos went supplemental

By sites I assume you mean pages, what worries me is that if some pages appear to be dupe content will it affect the overall ranking of the WHOLE site.
These photographs are very much a small niche area on the web and I would expect the site to do well under the niche terms but worry that the perceived dupe content will bring down a penalty on the whole site not just the individual photo pages. Sorry if I am not making myself clear.

Hi Driver,
I am guessing that the use of Title and ALT Tags will carry the weight of content throughout these pages?
If there is no content for the SE to read then all the focus will be on these elements, I would suggest labelling these up correct so in the eyes of SE the content will be sparse but different on each page non the less.
I predict your content rich pages to show up in a G site:domain.com search as the few G want to display. I expect the majority of pages to be supplemental results.
Even if G doesn't want to index all of the content at least you have labelled everything individually and you won't get penalised for duplication. :)
