Just curiously, I noticed you don't have a welcome section or anyplace to establish who does what, how long they've done it, what sites they run, etc. Is that by design, or was it tried unsuccessfully before?

It would be cool to know who all these members are and how they got started, what they do, how much $ they make and so on... It would be a good way to tell who really knows what and how much to trust their advice.

A lot of people like to keep this sort of information to themselves for a whole host of reasons. Most people here have a reputation bar which can be a great indicator of how good a poster is.

Look within this section, The Padded Room (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=48), at the threads over time. Sometimes people do shout-outs when they come in (and feel free to start a new one!). Here are two threads that might be useful:

A Typical SEO Daily Routine (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?threadid=9494)

Map the SEO Stars (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?threadid=8269)

I know there's another big long "how did you get started" thread out there, but I can't find it easily offhand. Perhaps someone else will locate it and add it.
