Are reciprocal links a waste of time? What about directories with decent page rank?

Well, you can run your own tests, start a new site and submit to every reciprocal link directory you can and see if you can get the site ranked, it would be research we would all be interested in for sure! :o

Personally I think reciprocal links are a waste of time. I got out over a year ago.

I would say directories with quality inbound links are good. I have a list of 43 directories that are rated by ILQ (inbound link quality).

Some directories are really great. They can deliver link popularity and traffic. Try to find high-quality, human-edited directories. Pay close attention to the other sites they are listing. Also, look at the quality of the backlinks to the directory and cache date of sub-pages.
Another thing is look for “local” and “niche” directories. These are a goldmine. They often rank very well and deliver the most qualified traffic.
PM me and I will send you a few of my favorites.
Best of Luck!

Bob, d'you have any real evidence of this? I know a lot of people started saying that link exchange is a waste of time after that Jagger Update. But... Can anyone proove that? I mean I continue using link exchange and it works great for me - just as it used to... The only thing is that I have to choose my link partners a bit more carefully (I mean link exchange with related sites still helps a kot, doesn't it)
