Hi,

I have been receiving numerous mailshots from a number of domain name companies trying to sell me .eu domain names...

One of the mail shots said:

"you can now secure the hot new domain format for Europe!"

I'm wondering, are they hot? Will it help? Are they better, worse no different to a .com? If my co.uk site already enjoys excellent listings do I need or should I change things? We now operate in Europe and don't enjoy any great listings for the countries we service so maybe a .eu domain name will help?

We can't secure a .com of our site name, even though whoever has it doesn't use it for anything and refuses to answer any emails from me (if anyone knows if I can do anything about this your advice would be a treat!) so maybe a .eu domain name would be a good thing...? For the £10 it will cost a year it must be worth it right?

Opinions...?

*if anyone knows if I can do anything about this your advice would be a treat!*

AFAIK you can check who the site registrar is and see if they have a tie-in with a particular "dropcatcher", you can then register your interest and take part in an auction when the domain becomes available.
