View Full Version : How can some spam sites get ranked high in Yahoo
I have to say Yahoo is kinda silly coz i saw some spamming site get ranked top #3 for a competitive key phrase. When I click the site, it redirects me to another site, how could that happen? I wish Yahoo could drop them soon!

It happens at all the search engines that some sites get by. The best thing is to just go on about your business and not waste valuable time worrying about what search engineers get paid to take care of.

you are right, Marcia, just thought they are still not smart enough to pick thses things up. I think Google is much better on that than Yahoo :)

If a site is deceptively redirecting to a seriously inappropriate site that's far from "family-friendly" in a regular everyday search, imho it's worth the time to drop the search engine a note via the form they all provide. That's up to the individual, how they decide to handle what they find. But for the most part, we've got enough to worry about keeping up with our own sites, with only 24 hours in a day. :)

not all spam is the same. The ones ranked tend to be sites with many outgoing links to sites with keyword related content. Sure, many are affiliate pages and such.

this page redirect from the top results cracks me up, especially being a .edu url
carbon.cudenver.edu/public/wle/ wrcc/introdl/talker/talk.cgi?c=813&id=1213
edit: that's not the only .edu url in the results, nice school projects they have these days

I think results do matter.. Sometimes when I search for some important things, different results produced by both engines.. and usually Google is more accurate.

yahoo seems to be far behind google and msn at fighting spam, but I think they're working on it

Irrelevant search results = increase sponsored link clicks....
