Hello - thanks for reading my post.
Does anyone have any opinions about the pros/cons of WebPosition and WebCEO? I am currently using WebPosition 4.0 Professional, and I feel like I've maxxed out all of its capabilities.
Thanks again.

What does web position do for you that you can't do manually?

The only feature that I find useful is the keyword tracker - WebPosition tracks how my keywords rankings have changed...

My advise is to forget about these programs, at least for the begining, an do the job manually. You will understand better the SEO process and hopefuly, you will undestand the risk of using such software.
What do you try to do with those softwares? Ca you be more specific?
Cheers,

WebPosition evaluates the keyword weight, placement, and frequency of my page and then compares it to the top 5 ranking pages for that keyword.
I can then edit the copy of my page to try to emulate the top 5 ranking pages.
Thanks again for your help!

WebPosition evaluates the keyword weight, placement, and frequency of my page and then compares it to the top 5 ranking pages for that keyword.
You do the following:
First create the copy of your page just with users in mind, not at all for search engines. Use the targeted keyword in your content, but do not use bold or italics until you really need to draw the reader's attention. Then wait for the googlebot to crawl the page and manually check your position in google(use 100 results per page for easy findings). Only if you are not ranked then you have to modify a little(one instance of keyword) the content. Repeat along with article submission(that's another story)

Web CEO 6 can do the same in the Pro Edition, plus it gives you more possibilities on working with links: tracking the top sites' link popularity and their partners, so you know whom to ask for a backlink first :)

There is no difference between WebCeo and WebPosition, Google doesn't like them both. You will not get banned on Google with WebCeo, but Google will not accept submissions from them. I have the unleashed version and I discovered that I had to pay for the unleashed version so I can pay now for Hitlense and search engine updates. There is no substantial difference between the free version and the unleashed one. As I said the pro versions only give you a chance to pay for other services. And Hitlense (minimum $10 a month) is little better than a usual free web counter. In WebCeo there is nothing you wouldn't get with free seo tools, but here are all in one place. If you use Google's Analytics you are better off and it is free.

I use WebCEO for the position rankings system only. everything else can be done manually and more effectively.

If you are already familiar with Webpostions I see little need for you to change,
They both do the same thing.
I did a comparison of both programs for our department it was mainly something to help the entry lvl content writers and other staff that didn't know much about Search marketing or creating a webpage.
Web CEO is more for the do it yourself home person and tries to pack every search engine marketing tool you need.
Web trends doesn't have everything and the kitchen sink like webceo does but I think it does a better job in what it was designed to do.

Been using Web CEO for tracking my Rankings..bought the pro ed and have just found out that my updates are free only for 3 months. LOL for $400 I thought that was a little expensive. least they can do it make those updates free for 1 year. not only that the keyword ranking been slow lately. takes more than 15 hours to do 7 sites now, probably half as when I first bought it. (alternative tool I found for free

I wouldn't recommend web-ceo for anyone!

There are a number of SEO software packages on the market and all claim to be the best. As a result SEO forums are littered with questions from SEO beginners wanting to know which is the best SEO software package. So I wouldn't recommend web-ceo for all.
I've used Web CEO and IPB! IBP is used by Network Solutions, Siemens, Zurich Financial, Canon, Lexmark and Ebay just to name a few.

Haha... I googled IBP and came up with a wikipedia entry for Iowa Beef Processors. The one you were referring to came next, but for a second I thought you really were crazy.

I used the IBP too. The most valuable option for me in IBP is the --- "Top 10 inbound links Optimizer" through which I can able to identify back links that really matters with easy.
However, I prefer to work out manually for most part of SEO.

Oh yeah, should have qualified I only use this kind of software for ranking reports.
Just between you and I, using software like web position gold is a violation of Google Webmaster Guidelines according to Google.
