I did a Google search for our trademark term - Thompson Cigar Company (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=thompson+cigar+company&btnG=Search) and I found 6 out of 10 search results from other engines within the top 10 organic listings.

What are these other sites and why do they show up in Google listings? Are they spam engines or what?

Interesting search result pages.

Those sites are ad sense magnets. Those are not real search engines, but spam sites that will display ads, mainly from G, hoping that someones will clik them and earn some money.

As I previously said, the latest update from Google is the worst(from users point of view): spam site on first results for medium competitive keywords like yours, ad magnet sites, link bombed sites, and so on. Instead of getting rid of those site, Googles seems to promote them in top 10 SERPs.

Let's hope that will end soon.

Cheers,

That's what I thought....Thanks for your input Traian.

Would a message to adsense-abuse@google, make a difference?

I noticed some of the same results in Yahoo as well.

It should make the difference, but take care not to use the same techniques as the site you are reporting ;)

I'm seeing the same thing with my site. It's been blown off the Google map completely where complete junk is showing up under the most logical search terms for my site. I was doing some research today and got so frustrated I just went to other search engines because all Google was returning was junk. Big Daddy is a disaster, at least so far as this user (and webmaster) is concerned.
