I've done SEO for one of my client's site for the past 3 months and have observed that its relatively easier to rank a site on MSN or Yahoo! than on Google. I've been able to rank the client's site at No 2 on both Yahoo and MSN for "outsourcing services" which is quite competitive (6,110,000 results on Yahoo!) , but the site is not even in top 100 on Google for the same kw  .

For some other "outsourcing", "software" and "services" related keywords the site is also doing very well in MSN and Yahoo! but harder to rank on Google. If we take the combined traffic from Yahoo! and MSN, isn't it better to concentrate on these two than to spend much effort in trying to rank on google?

optilink checks the c class address, pagerank, and link text of pages linking at you (or your competitors).

you can look at the percentages of each word in their backlinks and sort by pagerank (or site I think)

this makes it quick and easy to see if competitors are buying / renting links and makes it quick and easy to contact their most valuable link partners. it is one of the few seo software programs that I actually recommend. I actually recommend it on almost every page of my search marketing info site.

its $224 for the full version.

rustybrick's tool is still available for free I think
http://www.rustybrick.com/link_analysis.php
and does similar stuff I think.
