How long to wait for reciprocal links?

I recently decided to adopt a reciprocal linking strategy to promote my new website. I located relevant websites that explicitly offered link exchanges. After adding links to those sites on mine as directed, I then requested reciprocal links. Unfortunately, the response so far has been underwhelming. To be fair, it hasn't been very long, but I'm wondering how long I should wait before removing the link from my website to theirs. I will, of course, send a warning before doing so.

I should also note that we're talking about websites for small law firms which definitely do not have any professionals in house to add the links. Can someone give me an idea of how long I should reasonably wait for a reciprocal link from another small business?

I would wait up to 4 weeks, but this is probably longer than average.

You can always leave some links up if you feel that they are really good resources for your site's visitors.
