In Google's Natural results for 'placeware' Microsoft's Live Meeting product comes first - no surprise as Microsoft owns the product Placeware. Google Search for placeware (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGGL,GGGL:2006-10,GGGL:en&q=placeware). What is a surprise is the title and description in the search result. The title and description do not appear on the page that clicking through sends you to. Yes, there are redirects from what was the original page - www.placeware.com - through a 301 then through a 302 to get to the final destination. None of those pages show the title that is displayed in the result.

Google appears to be pulling from the dmoz entry only and ignoring the fact Microsoft is no longer using the term Placeware on the microsoft.com web site. Any insight into how Google is making this decision greatly appreciated.

Hi Webmama,

I think Google uses it based on the principle that as a DMOZ human editor has reviewed the site & written that description - it must be correct. :)

Google has been using the ODP description for years:

The only way to fix it is to get the DMOZ entry changed/ updated.
