Could anybody suggest why some sites are having all or most of their pages show up as pages that link to main Url, ("pages that link to") while others don't?

I have a site (site 'a') with more than 60 pages with only 6 showing as links to the main URL.

Site 'a' also has a "home" text link at the top of the page (about 1/3 into html) while another site 'b' has a graphic "home" link at the top (again about 1/3 into html), and text "home" link at the page bottom.

Site "a" has a site map. Based on these factors I see no difference though. The rest of the pages won;t seem to come up under "pages that link to" in either URL (the main url of same site)

So what's causing some sites to pull this off?

There's really no telling now about why anything is or isn't showing as backlinks; it just isn't at all reliable.

Just out of curiosity, what's the PR of the site-b that' showing backlinks - the homepage and internal pages? And are there a lot of links directly to interior pages?

Just curious, there's no way to know anything now that I've figured out.

I have to agree with marcia about backlinks now. There is no real rhyme or reason to the way they are listed using the link command at all. It would appear google is trying hard to confuse people with it more than anything else.

Pr of site-b is 5. If by direct links you mean from the homepage, then yes, there are. Secondary pages are about 4's. Going lower slightly.

I've just noticed a site having "home" text link followed by a line of three or four others at the top of the page. Secondary pages on this site come up as backlinks, even with PR4,3,2's. Wonder if their giving preference to text linking, one at the top, one at the bottom.

Wouldn't it make path's easier on the bots?
