Is any relation between positioning and hosting server?
I’ve notice some sites with the exactly same SEO structure and link strategies but diverge from rankings on the SE.

I’ve hear something about “Spam Servers”. Is this true?
What if the client doesn’t know about this and take his website there?

Comments appreciate.

Hi Carlos,
I also heard the rumour that Google will not give good ranking to web sites depending on the server and server location.

Unfortunately, as far as I have looked into this, there has never been any indication from Google that they will penalise your web ranking if you are on a server which has other dodgy web sites typically in a shared hosting environment or if you are in a location that is known for SPAM or other illegal activities.

In relation to location, Russia is well known for illegal activity, however I am aware of pleanty of Russian sites with very high Google page rank on shared environments also.

In my opinion, I do not think the server or server location will really be a problem when it comes to google ranking as this would result in many relevant web sites with unique content not being indexed.
Also, what if a script on a server in manipulated by a hacker and the hacker starts sending SPAM? Would this mean that all the other websites on that server are punished by Google when their ranking is taken away ? I don't think so personaly, but I am also interested in anyone elses comments on this.

James

Hi James,

Thanks for you thoughts.
I’ve been following portals located in some low quality servers to check how they rank on the SE and honestly, they are doing really good.
But, let’s wait if anyone comments on this.
