Are we getting penalized ?

Hi!

Our website used to get daily 120,000 visitors from google thru serps on around 90,000 keywords.

Starting from last monday, the traffic started reducing and now on saturday it was 58,000 visitors came thru 38,000 keywords on google.

Is this some thing like google is panalizing us? what happed if google panalized any website? did it got dropped immediately or start dropping slowly ?


any one can help ?

Hi,

Sorry to hear your site is losing ground.

You have not given enough info for anyone to be able to tell you anything. A drop in traffic can be caused by many many many different things.

If your site is 'clean' (free from what google says is SPAM) then it is very doubtful that you were penalized by google.

Sounds like you are just dropping in the rankings. Have you run a ranking report for those keywords?

yes, it looks like a drop in ranking on many keywords. But the traffic is again started going up.

We have not done any thing that google considered as spam.

But we were planning to implement some thing that i doubt google allowed or not. here are the details.

Our website offer free information on different products. the website is free and did not require login/singup to read the information. now i was thinking that if the user came from google, our system will detect it and make the 1st page available to read without login. but when he will click on any other page from the 1st page, the system will redirect him to login/singup page.

Will this be ok from google point of view ? as this behaviour will not be adopted for googlebot. googlebot will be able to access any page of the site without login.

You can not cloak content, you must show the same page to googlebot as you show to the user.
