This bites my butt. Google spells out spam everywhere....don't do it to us...bleat bleat bleat...though in the next breath, will sell their own advertisement publishing the rubbish.

You don't get more obvious than this:

Do these SE's purposely try to make a joke off their own policies?

Hey, why not report the ad as a spam result? We do it all the time with the organic listings. Why not the AdWords as well?

They will probably yank it if someone over there sees it. Oh, I forgot about the money factor. Let me rephrase that - "maybe" they will yank it.

I am fairly certain there will always be PLENTY of relevent contextual ads for my Black Hat SEO site. :D

I wouldn't expect them to yank it at all. As long as it's legal and the ads are paid for I would expect them to leave it as it is.

That reminds me of those guestbook spam ads a while back--they use Adwords to promote software that will spam the guestbooks.

Try a search for FFA and you'll still find tons of Adwords ads promoting software to spam the FFAs. And that has been around for years now.

LOL :)

Just beats the crap out of me what the person at Google thinks when they authorise the ad. Gee thanks, money welcome, reputation?

I would assume this to be more of a function of pressures from padded pocket politicians who need enough contributions to get reelected.

I think in the Isearch list Adrew Goodman summed it up best when he said something similar to "follow the money."

I went searching to find the term that brought that ad up and low and behold for targeted traffic sits Overture... and in the number 8 spot... does that tell us anything????

This gets better... found the keyword (or one of them obviously) doorway pages... number one spot goes to Google pushing adding their search engine... but you would figure they know who the competitors are and could knock off a bunch just by applying the rules they have established...

Just had a brief discussion about this with my ad rep at Google and he said it's like selling bullets... it's how they are used that determines the consequence but by themsleves they are not illegal... other industries are being bumped because of the legals....
