So I've been doing SEO for about 3 months now, and have been a part of this forum for over a month. You all have been a big help, and we are seeing results ffrom the SEO tactics I have been doing - thanks.

My boss gets a call from Gorilla Website Marketing (http://www.gorillawebsitemarketing.com/) who claims to be the "end-all" in SEO tactics. His proof is when you do a Google for the terms car wax (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=car+wax&btnG=Google+Search), his client comes up number one, 5starshine.com. Here's where things get fishy...

5starshine.com is owned by - guess who - BULKREGISTER, LLC and the contact name for them is glenn.canady@gorillawebsitemarketing.com. Stinky, eh?

They have link 25,000 inbound links - I figure that is who they got #1 in G - but if you try to do a search in Y, Jeeves, MSN for car wax, I can not find the 5starshine.com

Has anyone been through this before? I am going to do some more research and see what I can find...thanks!

This guy is not a gorilla marketer, first off, the top ones do not solicit business you have to hunt them out.Second of all most, gorilla marketers may use tactics to burn out domains fast like, page jcking, BHO's, search jacking and other various hijacking techniques or scumware as its better none. The only thing he probally is good at is that sales speach he memorized and tweaked abit, a text book sales call down to a tee...so to speak.
Regarding the links, if they are a registery company they probally have many parked domains that can offer that service of just "pointers", nothing new here just re-hashed coding from years ago

cheers

It's really not that competitive of a keyword. If he could truly get that kind of ranking for any keyword, he would have used a more competitive example.

In all fairness, he does say this is his website.

His site follows a familiar "salesletter" strategy. I would guess his $37 ebook is filled with affiliate links that act as back end revenue of getting you in the door for so cheap. Looks like he also wants to funnel visitors into his mentoring program.

Interesting that his ebook site doesn't even rank for the site name in quotes - http://www.google.com/search?q=%22guerilla+website+marketing%22&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8
