This is really odd and I'm hoping someone has some ideas. I did a search a few days ago with my preferences for numbers of results to see in Google set to 10. A site was first. Today I did the search again. The site is not in the top 100. I then set the prefs to 20 results per page. Nope. 30. Nope. But at 50,

the site is back to #1!

At 100, it is not found in the top 300!

Why would I get different search results when my preferences are 50 compared to when I'm looking at 10,20,30, or 100 results per page?

Thank you for any insights.

Yes Buddy....Google is updating its index database.... so you get different result.... even it changes at every 15 mins... have some patients... if your site is good and having relevant back links... definitely you will be given top position

AFAIK there's always been minor discrepancies between numbers of results displayed, but as mentioned at the moment there are other factors at work.

Hi, less than 24 hours, after not being in the top 300, the page is now in the #1 slot again. The results are just slightly different if I have preferences set to view 50 urls at a time, not 10: with more results per page view, they are giving 2 for a lot of sites, vs. just 1 with the short results. This actually does sort of make sense. However, the original problem is just plain strange.

I'm surprised people aren't speculating that this is a deliberate attempt to defeat screen scraping rank checking software!

Hi, if they really wanted to drive screen scrapers nuts then it would seem they'd give different results every time, and have wildly different positions for every preference number (eg 10 at a time, 20, etc).
